VARSUL Digital Sample

Presentation

The VARSUL Digital Sample Project, in an inter-institutional partnership that brings together UFSC, PUC-RS, UFRGS and UFPR, has the central objective of making available to the national and international scientific community a digital sample of speech (i) of the VARSUL project (Linguistic Variation in the Southern Region of Brazil), referring to the three capitals of southern Brazil (Curitiba, Florianópolis and Porto Alegre); and (ii) two non-urban speech databases in Florianópolis, in order to serve as a source of information on the sociolinguistic variety(s) in the south of the country and as a source for the sociocultural research of informants. .

The availability of this virtual bank is intended to encourage the development of projects aimed at research, teaching and extension, both in Postgraduate and Undergraduate courses, in the face-to-face and distance modes; as well as offering general stakeholders a source of real linguistic data.
